THE PACKING DECISION, SIMPLIFIED

Totes or cardboard? Let’s unpack it.

Both can get your things to the new place. The better fit depends on your dates, budget, transport, and what you want to do with the empties afterward.

What changes when you rent moving totes?

With SwampTotes, clean 27-gallon plastic totes arrive ready to pack, with separate snap-on lids and a dolly or dollies included. You keep them for two weeks, move your belongings, unpack, and return the empty equipment at your scheduled pickup.

Cardboard gives you a wider choice of shapes and sizes, and you can keep boxes for as long as you like. You may need to source them, assemble them, tape them closed, and arrange reuse or recycling after the move.

Compare the full cost, not just the containers.

A SwampTotes Hatchling package is $149 for 25 totes, one dolly, and two weeks. Delivery and pickup are free when each address is within a 25-mile radius of the center of ZIP 32244. Each address beyond that radius adds $3 per excess mile, measured in a straight line. The checkout calculates both addresses before payment.

For cardboard, add the cost of the number and sizes of boxes you need, tape, and any delivery or collection costs. Free, clean used boxes can be a good budget option. We don’t claim rental totes are cheaper for every move: compare the full total and the time you’ll spend getting ready and clearing up.

When reusable totes are a good fit.

  • You’re making a local Jacksonville-area move with delivery and pickup addresses you can plan in advance.
  • You want consistent containers, snap-on lids, and included dollies.
  • You expect to finish unpacking during the rental and would rather have the empties collected.

When cardboard may make more sense.

  • You already have enough clean, sturdy boxes.
  • You need specialty shapes, wardrobe boxes, or containers you can keep in storage indefinitely.
  • You’re leaving the area and cannot arrange to return rental equipment.

You can use both.

Use totes for everyday packing and specialty boxes for items that don’t fit. Protect fragile items with suitable packing material, keep heavy loads manageable, and secure everything in your vehicle. Totes are reusable, but they are not waterproof and do not replace careful packing.
